Expert Reports & Professional Statements

Reports & Statements

I support courts, public authorities, law firms and institutions in psychological questions concerning cognitive functioning, memory, attention and mental resilience; neuropsychological impairment and everyday functioning; emotional distress, depressive symptoms, anxiety and adjustment difficulties; psychosocial stress factors; refugee, migration and integration contexts; as well as attachment patterns, parent-child relationships, parenting capacity, family dynamics, risk and protective factors, and the developmental needs and psychological wellbeing of children. I also provide psychological evaluations of documents, previous findings and life circumstances, as well as professional statements for legal proceedings, applications and decision-making processes.

Reports are written in a factual, differentiated and reader-oriented style, with a clear distinction between findings, interpretation and expert opinion.

The purpose of each report is to present psychological issues in a precise, comprehensible and practically usable form, particularly for legal, administrative and institutional decision-making contexts.

Services are offered in German, English or in collaboration with a translator.

Assessment

A particular area of expertise is neuropsychological assessment especially of various forms of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's dementia.
Dr Marc Borner has many years of diagnostic experience at
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, including clinical history-taking, test-based psychological assessment and scientifically grounded interpretation of findings.

Depending on the referral question, established procedures may be used to assess memory, attention, executive functions, dementia severity, depressive symptoms, everyday functioning and caregiver burden.

In the context of family law, psychosocial, and clinical psychology, it can be important to gain a deeper understanding of relationship patterns. These include, for example, attachment security, regulation of closeness and distance, emotional availability, trust, conflict resolution, the ability to cooperate, and coping with stress.

The diagnostic assessment of attachment patterns is not carried out schematically, but rather in the context of the patient’s history, behavioral observation, conversation content, biographical experiences, and the specific issue at hand. The goal is a nuanced psychological description of relevant relationship patterns—not simplistic labeling.
